my favorite, go-to chunky choc chip cookies

if you're looking to make a simple, delicious cookie with just the right amount of chocolate and sweetness, look no further. this is it!

welcome to your new go-to recipe for the classic, chocolate chip cookie. actually, a chewy, chunky chocolate chip cookie (*droooool*), so whatever expectations you have, keep them nearby because you will definitely be satisfied :)
i've tried the original recipe a few times, and tweaked it to my liking. but please, feel free to try both, if you'd like, and let me know your thoughts!

***warning: this is a big batch recipe! which is especially nice if you're thinking of sharing these with a lot of people!

ingredients:

4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, melted
2 cups light brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp vanilla
2 large eggs
2 egg yolks
3.5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

instructions:

  1. whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  2. in a larger bowl, cream together melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
  3. beat in eggs, egg yolk, and vanilla into the wet mixture.
  4. mix in the dry ingredients until well combined.
  5. add in the chocolate chips (i recommend either by hand or with a spatula).
  6. **chill dough for 20-30 minutes in the fridge before baking (yes, this is an important step so don't skip this! this will give you the chunkiness you're looking for!)
  7. preheat oven to 350F
  8. place 1/4 cup cookie dough on sheet, 3 inches apart.
  9. bake for 15 minutes and let it cool (yep, they're gonna keep cooking outside the oven).
  10. eat! with milk (oat, almond, soy, your choice)!

and when i say these are chunky cookies, i truly, truly mean it. look at the width/girth of these babies!! a glance at them gives you the automatic heart eyes. XOXO
