my favorite, go-to chunky choc chip cookies
if you're looking to make a simple, delicious cookie with just the right amount of chocolate and sweetness, look no further. this is it!
welcome to your new go-to recipe for the classic, chocolate chip cookie. actually, a chewy, chunky chocolate chip cookie (*droooool*), so whatever expectations you have, keep them nearby because you will definitely be satisfied :)
i've tried the original recipe a few times, and tweaked it to my liking. but please, feel free to try both, if you'd like, and let me know your thoughts!
***warning: this is a big batch recipe! which is especially nice if you're thinking of sharing these with a lot of people!
ingredients:
4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, melted
2 cups light brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp vanilla
2 large eggs
2 egg yolks
3.5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
instructions:
- whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- in a larger bowl, cream together melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
- beat in eggs, egg yolk, and vanilla into the wet mixture.
- mix in the dry ingredients until well combined.
- add in the chocolate chips (i recommend either by hand or with a spatula).
- **chill dough for 20-30 minutes in the fridge before baking (yes, this is an important step so don't skip this! this will give you the chunkiness you're looking for!)
- preheat oven to 350F
- place 1/4 cup cookie dough on sheet, 3 inches apart.
- bake for 15 minutes and let it cool (yep, they're gonna keep cooking outside the oven).
- eat! with milk (oat, almond, soy, your choice)!
and when i say these are chunky cookies, i truly, truly mean it. look at the width/girth of these babies!! a glance at them gives you the automatic heart eyes. XOXO
